VELA works because it can see your whole picture. That only works if you can trust exactly where that picture lives, who can see it, and what VELA is allowed to do with it. Here are the plain answers.
Your workspace holds the things you put into it: tasks, calendar events, reminders, notes, decisions, people, money records you add or import, health entries, and your conversations with the assistant. It exists so VELA can keep your world connected — that's the product.
VELA doesn't pull in data you haven't connected or entered. There is no background scraping of your accounts, inbox or devices.
Your workspace is private to you and the people you explicitly invite. Data is encrypted in transit, stored in a managed database with encryption at rest, and every request to it requires your signed-in session.
Items you mark private are shown only to you; private calendar events appear to an invited member only as “Busy”.
Google Calendar syncs events two ways — VELA reads your calendar and can add events you create. Apple Calendar works through a private feed link you control. Fitbit, when connected, shares activity data like steps, sleep and heart rate.
Each integration is limited to its own data, and none of them can act on your behalf without an action you take in VELA.
When you ask VELA something, the relevant parts of your workspace are sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate the reply, under terms that do not allow your data to be used to train their models.
Assistant actions are recorded in your Activity feed, so there is always a visible trail of what was done and when.
VELA proposes; you decide. Suggestions arrive as cards you can review, approve or dismiss — sending messages, changing plans and anything that leaves your workspace always needs your explicit confirmation first.
Every integration can be disconnected in one tap from inside VELA, which stops the sync immediately. You can delete individual items — tasks, notes, memories, transactions — at any time, and the assistant's memory centre is fully editable by you.
You can delete your whole account yourself from Settings — Delete account. A solo workspace is removed entirely; leaving a shared workspace scrubs your personal data and keeps shared items for the other member.
